Neighborhood Notes 11/17/15

Hello Neighborhood Families,

All six of our Thanksgiving baskets are filling up with food items to be donated to the Woburn Council for Social Concern. The boxes will be delivered and distributed on Tuesday, November 24th. Thank you for your support and food donations. This is a wonderful way to begin the discussion with young children about what we are thankful for and and about the spirit of giving to others. Although the students at the Neighborhood Cooperative are young, they are not too young to begin this discussion both at home and at school. Today I heard children saying they were thankful for their family, their brothers & sisters, spiderman, the sunshine, their pets, turkeys and for their friends!

Thank you to Kerri Pescatore and Mary Chiavelli for putting together our 2016 Holiday Giving Tree! The items that are hanging on the tree are taken directly from our teacher's classroom wish lists. There are many books and small items the teachers have carefully selected to help enhance and support current curriculum.

Saturday Nov 21st Swab for Jason Shevland

Jason Shevland, a local Winchester Dad whose kids go to V-O, was diagnosed three years ago with a form of "Non-Hodgkins Lymphoma," a blood cancer that attacks the system responsible for fighting infections and disease. He has been battling this condition through various treatments, but his only hope for a cure is a stem-cell transplant.  Over 70% of transplant recipients require an unrelated donor to provide them hope.  Unfortunately, neither of Jason's siblings were a match so he is one of the patients relying on an unrelated donor to provide him hope.   YOU could potentially be that HOPE  for Jason.   If you are between the ages of 18 - 45 years old, please consider getting tested. The test is fast, simple, and pain-free. It takes less than 60 seconds. No needles. No drawing blood. No long forms to submit. You only need to provide name, email, and phone number. Swab your inside cheek. And you are done and on your way to possibly saving a life!

There will be testing on  Saturday 11/21 10am - 5pm
at Kids Footstop - 553 Main St.
