Goals of a Preschool Experience
To foster a good self image so the child knows
her place in the world and can receive appreciation, respect, and warm
acceptance from adults and other children.
To build trust and friendly relationships through a variety of shared
activities where the child learns to understand his own rights and
feelings as well as those of others.
To develop curriculum that is interesting and challenging, focusing on
learning centers where children can learn through direct experiences.
These centers include dramatic play, block building, cooking, science,
books, art, and music.
To provide a variety of activities that foster the development of
manipulative, cognitive, and language skills.
To provide a routine which the child can understand and cope with at
his own level of development, allowing for a balance of activities.
To capitalize on the individual strengths of
the staff and assets offered by the parents and community.
To protect and ensure each child's rights and physical well-being
without sacrificing any individual child's right to the freedom to
learn.
